How to Buy a Diamond

In selecting your diamond, it is best to choose an unmounted diamond, and then build the mounting around it. That way, you can view the diamond from all aspects under the microscope, and be assured that you are receiving precisely the color, clarity, and cutting proportions you expect. If you are unfamiliar with this process, we are here to guide you.

Today, most diamonds over 1/2 carat come with a "grading certificate" indicating the diamond's color, clarity, and weight. Some of these certificates are accurate, but many are not, depending upon the professionalism and integrity of the laboratory. Please don't make the mistake of buying the paper and not the diamond. Diamonds must be seen to be appreciated, and they should never be bought sight unseen, based solely on what is written on a piece of paper.
